We're spending a week in Nice in April, mostly to enjoy the scenery, food and wine. Any suggestions for good restaurants?
I would rather it be moderate. I'm a retired teacher. If it's worth a splurge, then I'll save money someplace else, I guess. If you have a range of suggestions, that'd be great. I've never been to France before and am looking forward to wine and food that's not available in Turkey.
Nice is a resort/beach town, and making a general statement only, with average quality food at higher than average prices--it's easy to pay a lot for just average food. Rick recommends many restaurants in the Nice portion of his book, Provence & the French Riviera. Another source of finding good value restaurants, and what I do in addition to using Rick's recommendations, is:Go here http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/viamichelin/gbr/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm?ck=OKselect Tourism tab at topselect Restaurant tab at leftinput France and for town 06000 Nicecheck Red Guide selections, but for Nice don't check any of the three boxes below appearing below itselect Price level but if you go too low in Nice you won't get much of a selectionclick SearchThose with the little red Michelin man face icon are an especially good combination of quality of food and pricescroll down to right for details on each restaurant, if you follow above instructions all on list will be recommended by Le Guide Michelin, considered authoritative for restaurant rating in France.
