In late May we will take a one week trip along Canal du Midi from Castelnaudary to Homps. Recommendations (or sources) for the best restaurants along this route would be deeply appreciated. Thanks, Moongok

It's been a few years back that we did a boat trip on the Midi (Bezier to Carcassonne). It was a very slow, relaxing trip, other than when you had to manage the locks (some were quite high). Anyway, fun trip. I don't really have suggestions other than to say that there are restaurants here and there, but not so many in one place. Also, some towns are a bit off the canal, more reachable by bike or on foot. We got our boat late on a Saturday afternoon, due to engine problems (which persisted), expecting to stock up along the way - unfortunately, we found that most of the Midi's small towns are pretty much shut down on Sundays - since we were cycle touring, we didn't have the option to bring boxes of food, etc. on-board before we left. Other than coming very close to running out of toilet paper, it all worked out fine and we very much enjoyed the trip. Have a great time
