My husband, son and I will be in Paris from 10/4-10/9 and staying at the Westin Place Vendome (using points we've been saving for years!). I've heard the breakfasts are terribly expensive, so would like to ask the readers here if they know of any little cafe's - their favorites - where we can get coffee/fruit/croissants in the morning before heading out for the day. Also, we will be going to Versailles - which day is preferable from Friday through Monday ? Third question - has anyone done the Fat Tire bike tour through Paris, and if so, do you think daytime or nighttime is better ? I'd guess the traffic during the day is probably worse, so is this a problem/concern? Four question - is there a better day/time, other than early morning, for Eiffel Tower tour ? Thanks for your help, once again!
Susan,
You will find a less expensive place just wandering the neighborhood. There are several on the rue de Rivoli under the arcade. You can find neighborhood cafes even on the very chic rue St. Honore and rue du Faubourg St. Honore. For questions 2-4, since they aren't indicated in the title, people may be unaware of your other questions. Why don't you submit a separate post for each question. Also, if you haven't done so yet, you can check these subjects in the archives. People who have commented on Fat Bike had wonderful things to say.
You are correct. I should have put them separately, and I'll take your advice to look up past posts. Thanks for the info on cafes.
By the way, lucky you at Place Vendome. You are near Angelina's for hot chocolate and other goodies on Rue de Rivoli and around the corner from the shop and restaurant/cafe at 231 Rue Saint Honore, of one of the best chocolate makers in France, Jean Paul Hevin (in English pronounced like heaven).
