Restaurant Ille St Louis

Somewhere on this site I read about a high end restaurant on the Ille St Louis that was highly recommended. If you know the name, please respond. Thanks.

The one I remember was a Michelin 3 (?) star. It is our big ticket, so I don't really care about the cost--just a great restaurant expereince.

That narrows it down, there are only 10 Michelin 3 star restaurants in all of Paris. But none of them is on the Ile St Louis. The Ile is in the 4th and there is only one 3-star in the 4th, Ambroisie at Places des Vosges. It's $300 to $425 per person for dinner. BG recently wrote about having lunch at Le Grand Vefour but it's in the 1st and not on Ile St Louis either.

Hi Sue, the above link is to le Café Ile St Louis. Below is a link to Tom's Guide to Paris. You may find what you are looking for in the guide, but if not, you could email Tom and ask. Just click on the icon called "Contact Me" on the guide home page.

Sue, if you are looking for a French 3-star restaurant you are not going to be happy with a cafe.I have the list of all 10 3-star restaurants in Paris, they will all be about the same cost as Ambroisie in the Place des Vosges, if these are what you want, let me know. You'll need to book a few weeks or months in advance and be appropriately dressed. This is the ultimate of the Parisian cuisuine scene.

Hi, There was a very fine restaurant on the Ile St. Louis for many years, the Orangerie. Perhaps that is the restaurant you heard about? I believe that it still exists but that it has new owners and is no longer so good as it was. But there are Michelin-starred restaurants within a walk of the Ile.

Sue,
I bet the place you are referring to is Mon Vieil Ami on the Isle St Louis. I am not sure if it has a star but it is very highly regarded. The Orangerie has somewhat recently changed hands and has not gotten good reviews since the reopening. Enjoy!
