Residencial Rex hotel, Porto, Portugal

Has anyone ever stayed here? We are looking for a very reasonably priced hotel (where we can park our rental car)in Porto. (under $70US/nite) I saw good reviews in Trip Advisor, but there is nothing recent. Frommers and Lonely Planet also have good reviews. I would like to send them an Email, but can find no contact info either.

We were in Porto in March and stayed at the Grande Hotel de Paris Residencial--it's in a great location and has an excellent breakfast (included in the room price)in a beautiful breakfast room. It was also reasonably priced. We had to park our rental car on the street but it wasn't a problem for us. The website is www.ghparis.pt Porto is lovely--enjoy!

We stayed at the Grande Hotel just like other poster Sharon. It was perfect and low cost but we too had to park on the street or pay parking in the garages.

Be advised that there are two hotels in Porto called the "Grande Hotel". One is the Grande Hotel de Paris", the other is called the "Grande Hotel Do Porto". I have stayed at the latter and highly recommend it. www.grandehotelporto.com

Sharon. JS, and Michael,

Thanks for your tips! I checked the GrandHdPR, and my buddy in Germany called the Res. Rex to compare rates. Both had exceptional reviews.

The GHdPR answered my Eamil requests for info IMMED. I was impressed. The only contact for the RR was the phone/fax, but my friend in Germany called them, and they spoke excellent English.

Both had a two room suite avail for the 4 of us. The GHdPR wanted $132 US/ nite, and the RR wanted $102/nite, and they had free parking.

Since we are cheap, and are saving our money to drink lots of Port, we opted for the RR.

"Grande Hotel do Porto" seems to fit your budget and it is very centrally located.
You can read more about it (including reviews) at the www.GoOporto.com website which also has other hotel options for you to consider, as well as plenty of information on sights, restaurants, and more.
