Last month (Feb 2013) I went to the Fussen Castle web site to reserve tickets for Neuschwanstein and Hoenschwangou. This was for a trip coming up this Sept. The web site takes a credit card number to make the reservations and indicates that an email would be sent to confirm the reservation and requested tour times. I did this twice and have not received any sort of email or confirmation. Is this too far in advance? The website makes no mention of timing, nor does it commit to a response time. It has been several weeks with no answer, but they have my credit card number which will get charged if I don't cancel either reservation request. Any advice as to how to sort things out or make the system work?
I really would like to have a confirmed ticket reservation made well in advance.
Have you tried telephoning them?
Or sending an email? Their email address is on the website. There will be someone there who speaks English. I emailed them in German once and got a response in English.
the other way to do it is to have your hotel call the castle. i assume you get into another german city first, and once you get there you can just have the hotel front desk call the castle to make reservation.
We were at Neuschwanstein last June, once we knew the exact dates we simply phoned there and got a reservation. Do be warned that if you don't care to walk up the loooonnngg hill there is a bus, but there are lines to board. We took the horse and carriage up to the Hoehenschwangau - after sitting in a very loud and cold thunderstorm! If you have room pack a rain jacket, if not you can purchase the lovely ones the gift shop offers for €2or 3! Have fun and take your patience since it is filled with lots of other tourists!
