I'll be in the Germany/Austria/Switzerland area from about 12/15 to 12/27. I've always traveled during the shoulder seasons, hence, without reservations. I'm guessing that's not going to fly over Christmas, but I'd like to know if any of you have any experience in Southern Germany over the holiday.

Hotel reservations? Train reservations? Big cities, little towns? We need a little bit more information to clarify what it is you are looking for.
I was speaking in terms of lodging. I usually stay in Rick's recommended B&Bs etc, and it will be a mixture of cities and towns (munich, rothenburg, fussen, innsbruck, baden baden, etc.)
