Reservations for Caves in the Dordogne

We will be in France for the month of June and want to visit several of the caves in the Dordogne region. We understand that it is necessary to make advance reservations for some of the caves. Does anyone know if it is possible to make online reservations for Grotte de Font de Gaume? Are there other caves we should consider?

We were in the Dordogne region for 5 days. Stayed in Sarlat and saw Font de Gaume and Lascaux II. Font de Gaume was amazing. Tickets can be an issue. We paid via internet and the tix were waiting for us. Good luck.
Website; www.eyzies.monuments-nationaux.fr/en/ ((((Rick Steves update::::Dordogne The Prehistory Welcome Center has new hours: mid-May–Sept daily 10:00–18:00; Oct–mid-May Sun–Fri 10:00–17:00, closed Sat. The number of visitors to the Grotte de Font-de-Gaume cave has been reduced to 100 per day. Only 36 tickets are allotted to visitors who book in advance by phone or email. Book well in advance or show up by 7:30.))))

Thanks so much for your prompt reply. We will go to the website and see what we can do. We are two months out, so hopefully there will be tickets for the week that we are in the Dordogne. Sounds like they have really cut back on access, which is probably a good thing for the cave art!

We've been to both Lascaux and Font De Gaume and had advanced tickets that were made by our B&B (we stayed there several times so we called to ask them). We asked only a few weeks out and had to settle for a French tour at Lascaux. Unless this is your favorite/must see you could probably chose one. we love Dordogne and there are so many other fabulous things to do/see/eat.
