There are numerous companies that offer apartments for rent. My family needs one prior to my Rick Steves tour. Does anyone have experience with one that is safe? Some require very large deposits and numerous fees which "may be refunded from 1-2 months after vacating the apt." Don't like the sound of that. Thanks for any experience you've had.
Jennie,, first if its only for a few days, reconsider and just get a hotel room. But,, for a longer stay, then I recommend Parisbestlodge I am renting from them this summer, I only had to send a post dated cheque,, in my own funds,, and this company has an excellant reputation , I messaged many people and asked, go on tripadvisor and ask for companies names too. VIP( Vacation in Paris ) is also apparently good.. as are several others.. As for VRBO I have heard great and not so great, not so much complaints about the companies policies,, but because it s "by owner" there can be quite a difference in quality.
Sounds like good advice. Thanks so much for the tips and I will follow up on Parisbestlodge. I believe VacationInParis is U.S.-based, which helps. Hope you have a great trip! Thanks again.
I've used vacation in paris twice. They don't charge a large deposit ... just a key deposit of $150. Both times I used them, the deposit was credited back to my credit card via paypal within a day or two of their receipt of the key (you send it back by mail to them). I found them to be easy to deal with both times.
Thanks so much. I will check them out. References surely help. I live very close to Edmonds, WA and enjoyed my first trip to the Europe Through the Back Door travel center today. It was very impressive with extremely helpful staff. Looking forward to attending several upcoming free seminars. Take care!
I used Vacation in Paris last time I rented and everything went well. No large deposits etc... I have used RentParis in the past with no issues either. Don't recall a big deposit there. ParisPerfect get very good reviews generally, but for the prices they charge they better be.. Way out of my budget :) I would avoid Paris Attitude based on reivews I have read. They are just a broker and if something goes wrong they tend to have an "attitude" that is less then helpful!
VacationInParis rents apartments by the night, no week minimum, so they are a good alternative to hotels. As noted above, they are a US based company which means they take credit cards, charge in dollars, and do not charge a large security deposit. We found them easy to use for our family stay in Paris, very professional an reliable.
We used www.guestapartments and were very happy with their service.
We've used Paris Attitude twice and were very happy with their service. Although PA's prices are really good, their deposit process is a bit complicated, and for that reason alone I would use Vacation in Paris or Parisbestlodge, as Pat recommended, next time.
Thanks, Carol, Lola, LaRae, Susan for this helpful information. I'm glad to have new info to check out. Glad you had good experiences. Since this is my very first European vacation, I would love to avoid any vulnerable areas in this important part of the trip. Merci!
check out Parisperfect.com. Have used them 2x and love them. It is like having a friend in Paris. The apartments are lovely, and very well located. Very trustworthy, too. Have fun!!
Thanks so much, Linda. Appreciate the tip and will follow up with them. Take care. :)
We have yet to arrive but we booked an apartment with Vacation In Paris, LLC (www.vacationinparis.com). So far so good.
Try looking at www.rentalfrance.com I have always rented from them and found them to be reliable and easy to deal with. In fact, I am renting again from them this July, same apartment I had two years ago.
The agent, Pascal, speaks perfect English and is very helpful, plus they are a really safe agency. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. (No huge fees and security deposits refunded upon departure)
