Renting car in Kelsterbach Germany

we are thinking of renting a car from kelserbach, near the Frankfurt airport to save the 18% tax. We are flying in on a national holiday so would appreciate any recommendations on a place to stay near or in Kelserbach. Or any place in Frankfurt to stay and pick up a car from Europcar the day after the holiday on June 23

Once you reach the Kelsterbach station by train, the question is how you get to their office. If it's not too much trouble or expense, it's worth considering. Staying in Frankfurt is alright but you might want to stay over in Mainz instead. Mainz is about 10 minutes further away from Kelsterbach than Frankfurt is by train - maybe 25 minutes instead of 15. It's much smaller and easier to get around on foot than Frankfurt and has a very pleasant old town center and Market Square, where there'll be lots of al fresco wining and dining going on on a holiday. There's a nice city park (Stadtpark) too, good for strolling and with meticulous gardens and a view of the river.

Frankfurt is extremely easy to get around on by foot, the outdoor cafes are in full swing, the parks are beautiful and the city is one of the greenest around, with about 45% of the city given over to green space. We have something like 48 parks here, though I doubt that is the reason why someone is visiting Frankfurt, unless they would like to visit the huge botanical gardens, the Palmengarten. The dozens of museums, the medieval churches, and the other historic buildings and sites are the best reason to visit Frankfurt. This was a Free Imperial City for hundreds of years, the site of the Emperor elections and coronations. Birthplace of Goethe, Anne Frank and the Rothschilds. If you go to the neighborhood of Hoechst, you can visit one of the oldest churches in Germany, the Justinus church, built in 850. Set up on the city walls, it is surrounded by fachwerk houses all along winding, cobblestoned streets. Nothing touched during the war, by the way. The Farmers Market along the Schiller Str. on Friday would be worth a visit as well as going into the Klein Markt Halle, a large indoor produce market, but with so much more. The Joerg Ratgeb frescos in the Karmeliter Cloister should be on your list to visit too. If you are in Frankfurt, then do go see the Jewish Holocaust Memorial Wall, with the names of over 12,000 Frankfurt Jewish citizens on it, who lost their lives one way or another, due to the nazi regime. Mostly murdered tho.

Catherine, Two years ago we flew into Frankfurt, took a 10 euro taxi ride to the Avis office in Kelsterbach and were on our way within an hour of landing. On the way home we arrived at the Frankfurt airport in the early evening, turned in the rental at the airport (there is no fee for airport returns), checked our luggage and took a free shuttle to the Ibis Hotel in Kelsterbach. Took the shuttle back to the airport the next morning and ate breakfast at the airport market before boarding our flight. All in all a very good experience. Last year we (four of us) took a 15 euro taxi ride into Frankfurt to rent from Hertz. Even with construction detours we were on our way to Rothenburg in 11/2 hrs. Figuring in cab fares we still saved about 75 euro each time. We arranged our rentals through WWW.gemut.com. I highly recommend you give the Bestors there a call. Very personalized service. Happy travels!
