Renting a house or staying at a B&B near Sarlat France

We will be going to the dordogne region after visiting Provence. We prefer to stay out of the towns and somewhere quiet . Anyone know of a great place or house to stay near Sarlat?

We stayed at Les Hautes Granges B&B located no more than five miles from Sarlat. Sarlat is fine for dining and the Saturday market day but would have been way too busy for us. Some recommended hotels were right on the busy main street. Les Granges is very quiet, has a pool and garden area and also they rent a house on the property. Our(ground floor) room overlooked a garden planted in fava beans-very delightful.

We stayed at Le Petit Versailles, a b&b just uphill from "downtown" Beynac, a few miles west of Sarlat on the Dordogne. The town is basically a T-junction along the river, very pleasant. The b&b is listed in the RS France guide, nice rooms and great breakfast, view over the valley including several castles. We went into Sarlat a couple of times over 5 days, liked it but found it crowded and busy. I think you're better off in a small town nearby (Beynac, Domme, LaRoque Gageac, Castelnaud, etc.) Assuming you have a car of course. If you'll be there more than a few days, another option might be the Gites de France website, where you can rent cottages in villages or the countryside. There are many other those in the Dordogne. I haven't stayed in one but friends liked it very much.
