Rental car from BCN

We would like to pick up a car in BCN on Aug. 6 and drive to Cadaques. We would then like to drive to Andorra, leave the car, and fly to Portugal, either into Lisbon, Porto, or Coimbra on Aug. 9. Where can we set up the rental, leave the car, and where is the airport near Andorra? Any helpful advice or references will be appreciated!

You really need to think this one all the way through. Dropping a car in a different country is going to cost you through the nose, plus I can't even picture a car place in Andorra. Here's the rest of the problem: Barcelona to Cadaques is only a couple of hours of driving Barcelona to Andorra la Vella is less than three Cadaques to Androrra la Vella must be five or six (never done that one) The closest big airport to Andorra is........................Barcelona. Toulouse might be a bit closer, but you're back to the second-country drop-off problem. Not many people who've drug themselves to Andorra thought it was worth it......picture row after row of K-Marts interspersed with Dollar Stores.

Thanks for the helpful information. One more question: what is meant by flying "open jaw?"

Flying into one place and out of another. You have to look at it real closely. Sometimes it might save you time/money, sometimes not. It might be just as easy to loop back to the starting point. A good example of where it would probably work would be flying into London and out of Rome. In your case (guessing) it's a good hike from Barcelona to Lisbon, so open jaw (multi-city) might work out - - also it might also depend on where the hell Perryville is.

I will vehemently protest against Ed's Andorra bashing. Although a small country, it is NOT limited to the major strip between Santa Julia di Loria and Andorra-a-Vella. There are many picturesque sites to explore in summer through windy (literally) road, and nice Pyrenees views. It is totally worth the visit. This being said, the easiest way is to drive back to Barcelona and fly from there.
