Hi - we will be flying into Brussels and picking up a rental car at the airport. We will be returning the car to Brussels also -two options, one - back to the airport, two - drop off at Gare du Midi. I am wondering which would be less stressful as far as traffic/road ways, confusion etc. Once the car has been dropped off we will have to take the train into Bruges - so not sure which drop off would make more sense for this either. If anyone could provide some insight, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Please explain what you plan to do with the car. If you're using it to get around Brussels... think again, bad idea. Where you drop it off I guess would depend on where you're coming from. If you're using the car to drive around within Brussels (as I mentioned, a bad idea), dropping it off near the train station would be the best idea. Otherwise, if you're using the car to drive around elsewhere, it would be easier to go to the airport than drive into the city... just don't go during rush hour. It is just as easy to catch a train to Brugge from the airport as from one of the downtown stations.
