I'm looking for suggestions on where to stay in Rennes, France, for a few nights. Ideally someplace within walking distance to the train station and the market, but not too noisy. Thank you!

The Mercure in the city center is nice and historical. It's located in the former printing works of the Ouest France Newspaper. Not to be mistaken for the other Mercure closer to the Railways Station.

Is there a specific reason for your stay in Rennes? It's the largest city in Brittany but not really one with much tourist appeal. I lived there for a year and attended university but when I go back to visit friends we meet in other places in the region that are prettier.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, it needs to be Rennes - I'm visiting friends there, so will use that as a base of operations for the region.
