Can anyone recommend a website for house rentals in Europe, specifically Portugal? I am using Tripadvisor, but can't find exactly what I need there.
Any other suggestions?

I use vrbo.com most of the time and have used homeaway.com a couple of times. They both worked well for me. Be sure to read the reviews.

The Slow Travel website has several reviews of apartments and houses in Portugal. Slow Travel has many reviews for other countries. I also use VRBO and Homeaway. I have rented apartments in several countries by just typing in vacation rentals + the town in which I want to stay.
I also pay attention to reviews and to the promptness of the response I get from owners or agencies.
