Reims to Mainz/Bacharach

I'll be going from Reims, France to Mainz/Bacharach area where we'll be staying before flying out of Frankfurt. I'm not finding any cheap train fare thru that route though. Any suggestions on routes i'm not seeing?

I believe the best way that i've seen is to go from Reims to Saarbrucken (thru Forbach) with a standard ticket and then get a Lander ticket for the two of us for the remainder of the trip to Bacharach. That comes out to about $75 ($55 for France train and then about $20 apiece sharing the Lander).

There's an international weekend ticket that gets you from the Saarland in Germany to Verdun or Bar-le-duc in the west called the Saar-lux-lor ticket - about 27 Euros for two. Here's a map:

Thanks Russ. We'd likely be doing that travel on a Wed or Thur so if it's weekend only we wouldn ot be able to use it.
Do you happen to know if that info is available in English on their site? I searched around and found how to get to your link but it's all in German.

I don't think it's in English. It's only a Sa or Su deal. There's a Saar-Lorraine ticket on weekdays - good for one round trip between Saarland and Metz for 20 Euros each - but I doubt it would help you as it's for sale in Germany for daytrips to Metz, and it's all in German as well, far as I can tell.

Perhaps someone familiar w/ sncf pricing can help.
