Reims or Rouen

Hi all, quick question, I was planning a trip to Paris in Nov. and I was considering doing a day trip to either Rouen or Reims. Which would make a better day trip (or is it worth it due to distance.) I'm into history, and seeing "old Europe." Thanks!

Andrew, you don't need to go all the way to either Rouen or Reims to see "old Europe" - it's right there in Paris. If you want to see an old cathedral that is away from the center of Paris, take the Metro to St Denise. If you want to train to a wonderful but lesser visited town that is nearby, take the train to Provins. If you're a fan of champagne, Reims has a huge cathedral and several champagne houses you can visit. Rouen is also great, particularly if you're a fan of Monet's study of the Rouen cathedral

Thanks Will, I have been to Paris a few times and I have been enjoying doing day trips to the surrounding region. I was already planning on going to St. Denis and Provins looks very interesting and I might add that to my plans. Thanks so much!

Either would be a good day trip for a history buff. Flip a coin? Do Both? The Notre Dame Cathedrales in both cities (same name) are both on the list of the great cathedrals of France.
