Was wondering about scenic view from riding the train from Regensberg to Passau - via another website indicated that on the autobaun you do not get close enough to the Danube River but downstream from Passau to Linz was a scenic trip. This will be in November. Thanks for any info you can give.
I drove the Autobahn from Regensburg to Passau two weeks ago. The hills and mountains of the Bavarian Forrest are on the left side (that's for trains as well) and you can see some nice castles up there occassionally. The Autobahn crosses the Danube once or twice but that's it. The Danube there is actually quite nice and natural - unlike the Rhine river. Passau Linz is one of the most beautiful trips - ideally if done by boat.
