Refer:"Luggage-Wheeled or not wheeled"

In the responses to the posting from Lisa,Cheshire,Ct. about luggage there is one from Frank II that refers to changes in wheeled luggage carry-ons when returning from Europe.I have been planning on using just a wheeled carry-on for a trip to France,Belgium and the U.K.in Sept. I have not heard or read about these changes, just how much has changed? We all know they can change anything at anytime but what is the latest on this? My carrier is U.S.Air.Depending on any info. I may get from these pages I will contact them.

Thanks,John

Flying to Europe, you'll be fine. It's the return that can be a problem.

If you'd be so kind to tell us what airport you're flying home from we can help...

Some airports are putting restrictions on size, weight and number of bags being allowed on flights to the U.S. This will take precendence over airline rules. As an example, Heathrow and Frankfurt are two that are putting restrictions on either size or weight. (Make sure you measure your bag including the handles and wheels and don't just go by the advertised dimensions.)

By September, the rules can change 100 times. (They've been changing in just the last few days.) I wouldn't even give this a thought until about a month before your trip and see what the rules are then. And they can still change the day before you leave.

That's why it's important to not only check the airline's website, but the airport one as well.

I agree with Frank. The airlines are in a bit of a panic now, but who knows what will be in place in a few months. Things may be more uniform by then. Or not.

I am flying home from Heathrow on U.S. Air.I had planned on using Ricks Autobahn Rolling Backpack. I guess I just wait and see and be prepared for last minute changes if any.
Thanks for the input!

Dear people, I re-read my msg. of 1/26/10,7:54 pm and it occured to me that I sounded a bit abrupt or like I didnt need any more input on the subject which certainly is not the case. I had my wife read it and she said I sounded a bit "short". I apologize for coming across like that.I guess I shouldnt send msgs.around 10:54 pm just before bedtime!

John, I don't think you need to apologize. I did not see anything short or rude with your words.
