Red Bus or Yellow Bus For Paris Tours?

There are two companies that run hop on / hop off bus tours in Paris. Does anyone here have any experience in using one or both of them? Comments? Recommendations?

Check both bus lines' tour routes in Paris. (available online) You will find that they are quite different. So, choose the one that goes by what you would like to see. How about doing both? They're both excellent except when you get stuck in traffic. Then, you'll wish you were on the Metro! Bon Voyage! P.S. Yes, I have done.

There is also a new one called Foxity. http://foxity.com/ It does not stop, but just gives you a narrated hour and a half tour of around 50 of the main sites in the city. Costs less than the hop-on hop-off tours. Haven't taken it, but it has gotten good reviews. We'll use it in May to take our travel companion couple on an orientation tour on our first full day.

We've taken both many, many times. Like them both but prefer the Red one. I think it's less expensive, and we thought the seats up top were a smidge more comfortable. The suggestion to go with the best route for you is good advice. Foxity sounds great, can't wait to try it next time.

Foxity looks good, especially for families with children. Thanks for the heads up. I looked at the website and, if I understand correctly, you lock-in a specific time. It looks like if you miss your departure time, that's it, no refund. That can be a deal-breaker for some, especially if you schedule the tour for the day of your arrival or if you build sightseeing around an afternoon departure... the risks are high that you may not make the rendez-vous point on time. At least the other two companies allow you to board anywhere along the route and start at anytime.

I went to Foxity.com and it looks like you only have to lock in your time if you buy tickets online. If you don't get tickets online you can go to the starting point at Madeleine for a tour anytime that suits you.

The yellow bus one also allows you to use the batobus. We have never used either of the bus lines, but we did enjoy the batobus for transportation between sites close to the Seine.

Why not just get a good bus map, email me for one, and do your own sightseeing?
