Recommended electrical converter for the netherlands

hello- my family and I are travelling to the netherlands this April. Can someone recommend a good , reliable electrical converter that we can use. We will be using the macbook computer, digital camera etc. We have a samsonite converter kit but are looking for alternatives.

Thanks..

There is a very good chance you will not need a converter. Most all electronics these days can handle all voltages. You can confirm this by checking the specs of each item; if it says "AC Input 110V-240V" you don't need a converter just an adapter plug.

Thanks very much- for those items without the capability of handing the 110-240, can you suggest a good converter?

"for those items without the capability of handing the 110-240". If they are over 600W, leave them home.

In over 25+ trips overseas, I've never had to use a converter. It's unlikely you will need to use one either.

You will for sure need an adapter 'plug' to allow the NAmerican 3 prongs to fit the Dutch (Europe) 2 prong outlets. But in 3 years living in NL, all my small appliances from Canada worked with the adapter 'plug' except a N.American clock radio. The radio worked, the clock kept losing time, even with a converter. Solution, bought a $10 European clock radio and I was never late for work again, damn.

Goeff, converters change the voltage, not the frequency. Clocks are synchonized to the frequency of the electric power, 60 Hz in NA, 50 Hz in Europe. So, your clock ran at 5/6 speed over there. I had an electric razor with a voltage switch, but it still ran slow, felt like it was pulling the wiskers out. My rechargeable isn't affected by the frequency.

Thanks, Lee, now I know why I didn't want to become an engineer and didn't do well at math/physics. I'm a guy who's glad to make my computer turn on. I can wire a house, though. All my 'small appliances' that did well included a laptop, cellphone charger, satellite phone and, most important, a clothes iron. Tools of the trade.
