I need some advice on where to stay in Amsterdam and Brussels. I will be traveling with my husband so we would like a room thats private. Does anyone know of any good hostels. We are a very young couple and don't want to spend too much on boarding.
Many hostels, of course, now provide private rooms for two people. But they usually still charge by the bed, not by the room, so the cost of a hostel can be actually higher for two people than the price of a two-star hotel. We're an older couple but, like you, we don't want to spend a lot on accommodations...after all, how much time do you spend in your hotel room, anyway? We've had very good luck with the Accor hotel group, a French company that owns hotels all over the world. Their Ibis and Etap chains are good, clean, basic accommodations with in-suite bathrooms...their Formule 1 chain is also good, but bathrooms are down the hall. Click here to go to their main website, enter details of your stays, and see what's available in those three chains. For Amsterdam, Zaandam/Zaanstad and Haarlem are "suburbs" that are within easy public transportation journeys of downtown.
