We're planning two nights at MSM in early April after doing the Normandy beaches. Familiar w/RS recommendations for near MSM. Any others?
In March, 2010, we stayed at La Jacotiere, which was a RS recommendation. At that time we had to email the B&B but it is now on booking.com. It is not on MSM and if you want to stay on MSM then this is not for you. But if you don't mind a short drive we highly recommend this family run B&B for its location, cleanliness, friendliness, character, etc. You can check it out on booking.com. It appears many others agree with us.
Thanks Carol! Did you do any day tripping away from MSM?
No. We were on a 7 day driving trip beginning and ending in Paris. We stayed in Honfleur, Bayeux (tapestry and cathedral), MSM, one night each. From MSM we drove around the coast to Cancale for the oysters and great scenery, then to St.Malo for the castle and Dinard to see the beach, ending the day in Dinan where we spent 2 nights. From there we stopped in Fougeres to see the castle and spent the night in Vitres (another castle and ancient church) and the last night in Chartres before returning our car to the outskirts of Paris and going to our hotel near the airport.
I'm not sure from your question if you're looking for places to stay or things to see. If you want a day trip and have already seen Bayeux (about 1.5 hr drive), Cancale (per google maps) is about an hour drive, maybe longer if you don't take the freeway but you would have nicer scenery. You could also visit St-Malo, also about an hour drive or see both Cancale and St-Malo, especially if you're not continuing on in that direction. Ah, the luxury of many choices!
