Which station is recommended for ease of connections. I have been told that not all trains (from and to other destinations) stop at one of the station but not sure which one. Any help is appreciated

You can enter the details of your journey and find the corresponding stations and stops.

I think the point that people would be referencing is that the trains up into the mountains - Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Gimmelwald etc. depart from Ost. The distance between the two is walkable though (10-15 minutes)

Interlaken Ost Station connects to narrow guague lines that take you to the mountain villages above:Lauterbrunnen, and Grindelwald, and the Golden Pass line to Luzern. The regular intercity trains start at Interlaken Ost proceed to Interlaken West and then on to the mainline track. The Swiss Rail website can be found here: www.sbb.ch/en
