Hi, my friend and I are planning a trip to Provence. Not sure where exactly to go, recomendations. Transportation advice and lodging.
Thanks.
We stayed in St Remy in early June and also found the RS Guidebook useful. We did not use any of the RS lodging suggestions. I would like to thank the poster who suggested the small hotel in St Remy, Sous Les Figueres. It was perfect-very charming and parking available. Hope to stay there again!
Just got back - used the Rick Steves Provence book to decide where to go (St. Remy & the Luberon) & lodging (Mas de Carassins & Mas Perreal). We rented a car and found it easy to drive to see other villages for daytrips. The Provence book gives lots of ideas - start with that and then see what interests you.
get the RS Provence book. We stayed in Roussillion for 5 days or so (tiny town - good base, though) and visited much of the luberon. We had parking right at our hotel, so it was convenient.
Gordes, St. Remy, Bonnieux, Lacoste, the list goes on. We loved everyone we went in Provence.
High speed train from Paris to Avignon, rent a car with a GPS and you are set. Get the RS guidebook for starters. Don't miss the Pont du Gard.
