my daughter and i will be in paris for 4 -5 nights the later part of may - do you have suggestions for a place to stay that's reasonable? everything seems to be 80 - 110 euros a night. i realize it's late to be making reservations, but i've been trying a lot of different web sites. thank you!

I stayed at Hotel Porte Doree 2 years ago in May.
You can find out instantly if there's availability.

The rooms are clean, close to the metro (1/4 block away) and reasonably priced. The down part is some rooms are noisier than the others. My friend said she could hear the train or metro running. Either her walls were thin, or she's a light sleeper.

This year I'm heading in June and we rented an apartment for 10 days. It was more affordable than a hotel. There have been many posts on apartments in Paris. check it out. Many will rent for as short as 4 days.

Try etaphotels.com . Etap Hotels are part of the giant Accor chain....these ones are modern, clean and comfortable, with ensuites, but definitely on the plain side. You may have to get something on the fringe, like Porte D'Italie just outside the Perpherique in the south of Paris, or Porte de Saint-Ouen (again, just barely outside, but to the north,)but they should be close to Metro lines into the downtown. A bit of a "commute," but you should be able to get a double for around 55 Euro. Input the hotel's address into maps.google.com and you'll get a good look at the satellite photos of the area, and the closest Metro stops.
