I am having a hard time finding a reasonable room(s) for a family of four - mom, dad, 16yr boy & 11yr girl - for 2 nights in Lucerne next summer. Have exhausted most of Rick's suggestions...Anything else anyone can recommend?

Try the chain Ibis hotel Luzern Kriens it is 5 minutes by train to Lucerne. you can book online and a map is noted for its location. website is www.accorhotels.com.
nothing is reasonable otherwise.
