My friend and I want to travel the country side after Paris. Can we do Provence and Normandy in 6 days. Or are we nuts?

Well, there is the problem that they are at opposite ends of France. So, you will lose a lot of time in transit between them, no matter how you do it (fly, train, car). As long as you can accept not having 6 days of actual sight-seeing, and can spend the time and money to get between them, you can see a bit of both. If you do want to do this, investigate flying back from your last place, rather than a round trip to Paris. For instance, if you're ending in Provence, fly into Paris and out of Marseille. Otherwise, you will lose still more time getting back to Paris for you flight out (probably having to stay in Paris the night before you return). To find these flights, use the "multi city" option on Kayak, KLM.com, etc.
