I just had a great experience with making reservations over the phone with SBB (swiss rail). I called the +41,900300300 number and got someone instantly, no wait time! She didn't speak english but immediately understood I needed someone who did and got that person. The transaction was seamless and I was able to reserve my two night trains for no extra charge, I just pick up the reservation at the station when I arrive (like "will call"). I am so happy!! I recommend using this 100% is you need reservations! It cost about $4.00 in charges to call but that is much less than RailEurope's inflated prices
Great report, Melissa! Glad this worked out for you and I know many people will benefit from your information. It's so great when people take time to talk about what worked right!
Great News. Way to go. I email www.sbb.ch at times with questions. They are very responsive there as well.
Just curious. On which night trains did you reserve tickets?
Thanks for the recommendation. I hope to use a couple night trains on my trip in the fall and will try this out to make the reservations.
I have also had great communication via email with SBB but couldn't reserve via internet for the specific rides I wanted. I was reserving the Euro Night Luna (EN) trains from Spiez-Bologna and Rome-Zurich. It cost CHF 41.00 per person for 6-berth couchette. I wish all countries would have as efficient rail service as the Swiss!
There's nothing better than the Swiss Transit System. SBB has always answered all my questions promptly and efficiently.
Melissa, they are indeed the most efficient. Just wait until you see a couple of those 6-9-minute train changes they put you through. You'll make it but you won't dilly-dally in the station.
LOL Larry. Well, Thankfully I have only booked direct trains so far.....however I will heed your warning and not dilly dally.
