I am currently in gimmelwald and have had a fabulous last coupe of days of hiking in glorious weather! However today the weather is supposed to turn and there is rain in the forecast for the next few days. Any suggestions about places to go, good rainy day towns in the area? I have some travel days on my eurail pass that I can use, including going into France... I've heard things about yviore, annecy, montreaux...I'm not really a museum girl FYI. Any thoughts on how I could make the most out of these few days and see more of Switzerland (or France if ppl recommend that?) I just have to be back in luzern by sat night.
Bern is relatively close by train, maybe worth a day trip. I would also suggest a trip to Luzern, but it you are going that way on Saturday then it doesn't make sense to go there on a rainy day. Down in the valley you can do Trummelbach falls in Lauterbrunnen in the rain.
Are you looking for daytrips? One might be to head to Montreux and visit Chateau de Chillon, ride a lake boat, and walk the lakefront promenade. We did that when faced with a raicy day in Chamonix and everyone had a good time. You could stop in one of the towns on the way, such as Gstaad or Chateau d'Oex, to wander through, maybe have lunch. We did that in th epedestrian zone in Gstaad and enjoyed seeing the town (and buying chocolates).
