Raining Season in Western Europe

We are planning to tour the region (Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, England, etc.) either in late April or early October 2010, but afraid of running into raining season. We would appreciate it very much if you would share this valuable information with us. Thank you very much.

You are not going a rainy season any more than a rainy season in northern US. It mostly likely will rain more in the Spring time than in the Fall. October is dryer than April.

We really appreciate your kindness to share your knowledge with us. You are very wonderful people. We will definitely take our trip to this region in early October, and we will start from the north to the south.

Thank you so very much and have a very merry Christmas!

Early October is very nice. North of the Alps seems to turn cold somewhere in the middle of October.

It's best in Fall to start at the north end of your itinerary and work south.

If you choose April, do the opposite - start south and work north to get the best chance for good weather.

In the northwest of Europe, you will encounter at least some rain no matter what time of year you visit. It's not a matter of "rainy" versus "dry" season, but rainy vs. rainier vs rainiest. Just accept some rain as a fact of life in NW Europe, make the appropriate preparations, and enjoy your trip.

Did you say Western Europe or somewhere in India? We don't have a monsoon season over here (although compared to your 11 days of rain per year Central Europe might appear to you as if you spent a vacation under water). September and October are usually dry, sunny, mild but not humid anymore and just brilliant. Compare Italy to SoCA and in England you could easily experience all 4 seasons in one day.
