Hello- I am trying to figure out how long it will take to travel via rail from Gstaad to St.Goar. Also, my husband will be at a conference in Gstaad for several days and will not be accompanying my daughter and I on our short day trips..he will however need a rail pass to travel from Gstaad to St.Goar when we leave. I was going to purchase a two country Eurail for my daughter and myself for the duration of our trip..but what do I purchase for my husband? Ugh..
Get your Gstaad - St. Goar itinerary and all European itineraries here at the DB website. Start station name: Gstaad
Destination station: St Goar Europeans don't use railpasses much - they buy tickets. Your husband likely needs just a ticket for this trip rather than a railpass. You can find advance-sale "savings fare" tickets at the page above. Sample date August 16 shows several one-way fares of 59€. Regular fare is 133€. You and your daughter might benefit from a railpass, or tickets might be better - it depends on what trips you plan to make. If you know your planned trips and dates, post them for assistance.
Ditto what Russ said - I found the same trip for 39€ (advance purchase online; 2nd class); it just depends on your travel date. That same trip costs 134€ full-fare :-( You probably don't need railpasses - if you can commit to specific trains on specific dates (months) in advance; many of us do just that for the huge savings!
