I am trying to schedule a day trip from paris to Reims on 5/17. I am on raileurope.com and having difficulties. If I try and book round trip the website hangs. I can get a one way direct TGV from Paris to Reims, and a separate booking for a non-tgv back via 2 stops, but each ticket is $18 shipping fee - Is there an easier way?
Yes, there is an easier way!
Book with TGV Europe. I have found tickets as low as 15E each way - with no shipping charges.
If you have any questions about booking, read my SNCF Guide or reply to this post.
In addition to Martine's excellent advice, another handy website for booking is the IDTGV site - very easy to use. http://www.idtgv.com/165i.html
RailEurope is generally the most expensive way to book, it has been my experience that they do not offer the lowest rates and seem to mark up the prices.
When you choose to print tickets at home, be sure NOT to include insurance. Printing at home way easier than mail (free) or picking up from kiosk (need European credit card or go to crowded counter).
For such a simple trip I am quite sure you would be safe to wait untl you got there.
