Travelling to Germany for the first time in December. We are going to visit four cities in two weeks with side trips to include Neuschwanstein and the BMW Factory. We will be staying anywhere from two to four nights in each location. Can the German Pass be used to get to Neuschwanstein and from Munich Intl to Marienplatz area? Or better to pay out of pocket for these?
From MUC into downtown Munich, you are better off using a Gesamtnetz Partner Tageskarte (a day ticket for the entire MVV network for up to 5 people) for €18,80. And, for getting to Neuschwanstein, use a Bayern-Ticket, for €28, an all day pass on regional trains in Bavaria for up to five people after 9 AM workdays. See www.germantravel-info.com/MUC-munich.htm and www.germantravel-info.com/fuessen.htm. . . . . . ¶ Before springing for a rail pass, look at other options, such a Länder tickets, regional passes for up to 5 people for regional trains in a Land (German state) or Sparpreis tickets, online advance purchase tickets for long distance trains for as low as €29 per person. . . . ¶ The BMW factory in Munich is in the innerzone (Innenraum). A €9,40 Innenraum Partner Tageskarte will get you there. Actually, almost everything (exc Dachau) in Munich is in the Innenraum. You probably want to buy a Tageskarte for that zone every day.
