My wife and I will be in Barcelona for the first time, and we came across this tour company (called "Hi. This is Barcelona"), which seems to have almost nothing but rave reviews on the internet. I've got to say, from what I see on those reviews and on their website, it does look pretty good. They specialize in very personal tours, steering somewhat away from 'the usual' tourist sites (on the arguably-correct assumption that you can do those pretty well on your own). We requested a bit of info via e-mail from them, and were also very impressed with their response. So far so good. Just wondering, though, if anyone here has done a tour with them? They're not cheap, for sure -- their 3-hour walking tour starts at 209 Euro. The trip we'd be interested in doing would be a food-inspired tour (some combination of market-hopping and tapas-tasting), which will be closer to the 300-Euro (though food and wine is included). Anyone have any experience with them? Thanks! ~Geoff and Jennifer
We just did an all day private tour(2 couples) with "Hi.This is Barcelona". I can highly recommend that you do it. We have been to Barcelona 5 times over the last 16 years and we learned so much more from our tour guide. And we really read and work at it. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the city. He gave us a fabulous perspective over the whole history of Barcelona and continued to show us how the information all interacted. We are now well informed and we had so much fun. He was sensitive to our enjoyment of the tour and our input. Lunch was such a treat. At his suggestion and our insistence he ordered an amazing array of Tapas. The whole tour was totally worth the investment. I would suggest longer than 3 hours if you are up for walking and taking the metro. I was pleased that he included the metro because this city has fabulous public transportation and it helps to know how to use it easily.

Geoff, we did the Fat Bike Tour of BCN in June, and absolultely loved it. Our guide was awesome,(his knowledge of Spain and Spanish history was amazing.) Since we were on bikes, we covered a large area. It was easy; I am 65, don't ride much, but I never had any problems. It took over 4 hours, and we finished at a small restaurant down at the beach. For $22 EU it can't be beat. Go to theire website and check it out. We thought that it was a great overview of the area.
