Quick side trip to Spain from Bordeaux

First thanks for the answers to my previous thread. i will be in Bordeaux with my 2 teen boys in early July. We have 2 days to do a quick side trip into Spain. Looking for suggestions for best border city/town to visit (we will be using a train pass). Thanks

My pitch would be for San Sebastian, the heart of the Basque country. Use your rail pass to take the train to Hendaye on the French border (about 2 1/2 hours, several per day, but your best bet for a full day is the 6:27 am train)...come out of the station and look to the right for the little "Euskotren" station. Take that into San Sebastian (aka Donostia in Basque.) There are two trains/hour, right now at :21 and :51, and it takes about 35 minutes to make the run....but check this website to get the latest schedule just before you leave (http://www.euskotren.es/castellano/horarios/pdf/verano/08/ZUMAIA-HENDAIA.pdf). The run is NOT covered by rail passes, but the cost is about 2 Euro pp each way.
