Hello, travel friends, I have 3 days off next week (2/12-14. I live and work in Rome, Italy) and my options (restricted due to last minute flight costs)are: 1) flying into Paris and heading somewhere from there as I've already been to Paris and have a return trip planned in April to go to Giverny, etc. So, I am thinking Reims unless someone else has another suggestion for somewhere I can to easily by train from Paris; or 2) Geneva, Switzerland. Thoughts?? Suggestions?? Thanks!
If you like Champagne, Reims is good. Nice town and short train trip. Also, easily by train from Paris is Chartre. Or from Paris to Malmaison, via la Defense, or by train (with a short taxi ride) to Vaux le Vicomte. Lots of options.
I'd vote for Reims over Geneva. It won't be a problem to get around with public transportation and I've been there in less than ideal weather and it was do-able. There's more than just Champagne. Check out the Museum of the Surrender where Germany surrendered in WWII. If you're interested in war history, you can try to get a tour out to the Verdun area. Incredibly moving.
Thank you! I just purchased my ticket to Paris and will figure out next where exactly I'm going to head to. Appreciate the input.
