Questions about Berggasthaus Aescher, Appenzell, Edenalp, Interlaken/Murren

Has anyone stayed at Berggasthaus Aescher? Would you recommend it?

My understanding is that they don't give you linens for the mattress? Is it clean?

Do they serve food on the weekdays?

No showers?

Would a day visit to Gasthaus Aescher and stay overnight in Appenzell be just as good? My understanding in July, the The Wasserauen - Edenalp cable car runs approximately every 10 to 15 minutes from 7:00am - 9:00pm. Is that correct?

Do you recommend I stay in Interlaken or Murren?

Do I need snow tires in Switzerland in July?

I have read the Rick Steves book 2008 Switzerland.

Thank you for your help

What do you think about:
1 night in Appenzell
2 nights in Lucerne
2 nights in Interlaken or Murren
2 nights in Le Moulin

"Do I need snow tires in Switzerland in July?" Only if you plan to drive on the top of the Jungfrau... in other words, no.

Jerry, depending upon your city of origin, 1 night in Appenzell is o.k. Of course, it depends on what you want to do in the area. Since you've read the Switzerland guide, you have an idea of sites to see. I haven't been up to Gasthaus Aescher, but did spend an extensive amount of time at the cheese factory, which is great. The same goes for the other towns you have listed--just depends on what you want to see and do. Two days in Lucerne--yes, if you want to see everything in the city at a leisurely pace and then take another day to go to Mt. Titlis. Otherwise, one night would be sufficient and then you could add another night to Murren. Just a thought. Have fun on your trip!
