Question about 3 week tour

Tell me how this plan looks to you:

We're flying in and out of Geneva, hopefully using frequent flyer miles.
We'll be in Geneva, Switzerland for four nights (can't change it, due to a conference for husband).
Train to Bayeux, France. Stay in Bayeux for four nights. Plan on doing the Battle Bus tour. (I want to retrace my dad's D Day experience).
Will rent a car for 1-2 days, plan on visiting the LeBrec farm, where my dad's group has a memorial.
Train to Bruges, Belgium for three nights.
Train to Dusselfdorf, where we will spend long weekend with our German exchange "daughter" and family.
Train to Salzburg. Spend four nights in Salzburg. Husband wants to do the Eagle's Nest tour.

Train back to Geneva for flight home.

Any suggestions on any of these plans/ areas/tours would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sharon

If you haven't make your plane reservation try for an open jaw from Salzburg instead of back tracking to Geneva.

I would love to do open jaw, but it is not possible with our particular frequent flyer plan.

I found out that I can't do multi city, but I can do one way tickets, (one to Geneva and another one from Salzburg). So, that's the plan now. I'm just waiting for the dates to become available.

You might consider taking the train to Caen rather than Bayeux. There are four auto rental companies across the street from the Caen train station. Train connections and rental agency hours in the larger city of Caen are both more flexible than from Bayeux. Bayeux is delightful, as are the surrounding villages which have B&B's that are marvelous too. We had a car for all 6 days in Normandy and would do it again in a heartbeat. We also did Battlebus as well but then used our car to return to those places where there was scant time to explore, such as the American cemetery.
