Epernay is lovely. It is just south of Reims in the middle of the champagne region. It is very quaint and has lots of flowers and green space. It is close to the major autoroute, so getting places is easy.

Am too lazy to check a map - seems like Vezelay might be on that route? Or maybe it's farther north...lovely hill town when I was there, tho I imagine it's become more touristy.

Vezelay is NOT enroute from Reims to Paris. It is in Burgundy southeast of Paris. Lovely place to visit though.
