Quaint French Town - Wheelchair Friendly

Can anyone recommend a pretty, quaint relaxing small town near Paris that is easy to get around with crutches or a wheelchair (i.e., not TOO many cobblestones) to have a 3 days peace after 3 busy days in Paris? Have already been to Beaune, Bayeau, Colmar, and Dinan so would prefer new area (may rent a car to get there). Seeking beauty, cafes, slow pace. Specific B&Bs/hotel suggestions also welcome. Thanks.

I can't make specific recommendations since we haven't been to these towns, but how about Nancy or Troyes? They seem to be highly thought of here on the board – so hopefully someone who has actually been there will chime in and answer your questions.

I would suggest Reims as it is very flat, though there are cobblestones in front of the cathedral. THe champagne tasting is excellent - both small producers and large producers, though visiting the caves could prove difficult with crutches or wheelchair. With a car you visit the smaller towns around Reims - Ay, Hautvilles or take the Route de Champagne. History - 4 UNESCO sites, plus WWI sites nearby. A beautiful restaurant is Les Parc at Les Crayeres. I've visited Reims 3 times and look forward to visiting again. Rick was just there to update his book, so check out his blog.

Thanks so much Gail and Dawn. I fractured my kneecap 5 weeks before my big trip, so I'm not able to do our normal Rick Steves-type active exploring. This gives me hope--great suggestions. Appreciate any input. Any favorite B&Bs? Of course, I'll check them out to see if fairly accessible.

No suggestions for B&Bs/hotels as we splurged and stayed at Les Crayeres while another time was a day trip. I'd look at what Rick suggests though you probably want a one level place or somewhere with an elevator. The countryside is beautiful especially near Ay if you decide to not stay in Reims.
