Quad Hotels in Paris, Murren

Need info on a clean, comfortable hotel offering quad rooms in Paris and Murren. Would like to be near metro lines for sightseeing. Have plenty of time to plan - not going until summer 2010. Area near Notre Dame looks nice, but any advice would be helpful. Flying into Paris, then taking train to Murren, Switz. Do not need luxury, just comfy and clean.

For Paris, search Trip Advisor. Someone there has posted a very helpful list of hotels in Paris with quad rooms, sorted by Arrondissement. Two years ago we stayed right near the St Michel metro stop and loved the location, but the room was really a triple with an extra bed on the floor. We leave very soon for Paris, so I can report back in a few weeks how I liked the quad we will have this time. It is in the 6th as well. At one time I had reservations at three different hotels, all quad rooms in the 5th or 6th, so they are out there. Be careful when inquiring to ask about the bed arrangement, as a quad can be two big beds, one big and two singles, or four singles. If it makes a difference to you, you need to specify. You can search this helpline for a recent discussion of Hotel Marignan, and Hotel Familia has also been discussed here. One of the places we canceled from was Grand Hotel des Balcons, which looked very nice.

How long will you be in Paris? If you will be there more than a few days you might want to consider renting an apartment. It would provide you with more space than a hotel room and give you a kitchen too.

We stayed at the Eiger Guesthouse last year with our boys. We didn't have a quad, but we had two side by side rooms with a connecting balcony which were perfect for us. It is comfortable and clean, and the Rosti at the restaurant is great!

You can do a 3-night apartment rental in Paris with Vacation in Paris. They have a good selection of apartments all over Paris (we rented one near Rue Cler that was perfect for a family of 4). It is a reputable company, website in English, and you pay in dollars with your credit card, so it's all very easy.

For Murren, the apartment at Chalet Fontana is an excellent budget option. No balcony or views, but you do get 2 large bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen.

The Chalet Fontana is the perfect choice for Muerren. The previous poster is correct about no balcony...but there are definitely views from the front windows toward the Alps. The back window view is to a small vegetable garden.

Jeanette - We used VactioninParis for an apartment rental this past summer, but I think they will charge a cleaning fee for a stay of less than 4 or 5 days. There has been another post recently for Hotel Marignan in Paris. Here is the link. www.hotel-marignan.com.

A third vote for Chalet Fontana. We stayed in the upstairs loft, which was huge and had three beds as I recall. This room may have been a triple technically, but perhaps Denise will allow four in the room if you ask. There are no in-room facilities in this lodging, but the two bathrooms were always available when we needed them to be, and they were very clean. Price was great…view unbelievable. You can’t go wrong here.

The hotel I normally recommend in Paris has an apartment available that sleeps 4 or 5, but it's high at 240 Euros per night...Hotel de la Tulipe in the 7th .

You can get great early discounts at Novotel. We stayed there last summer with the kids. The metro line is right there (Gare de Lyon). There's a pool and Playstation downstairs.
