We are flying into and out of London Gatwick Airport. I want to purchase some wine in France. Can I get through security with the bottles of wine in my back pack at the London airport?
Liquids such as wine must be packed in your checked luggage. The luggage must be checked all the way through to your final destination (or you collect, then re-check the bags at each airport).
Thanks so much for the information.
You could have another problem of getting the wine to London. You have an airport style of security check for the Eurostar if using the train to get to London. But I do not know what is or is not permitted in carry on with regard to liquids. I know they do not worry too much about a knife or other sharp instruments or the 3 oz limit.
Had not thought about that problem. We are taking the Eurostar from Paris to London. Guess the wine might be out of the question. Thanks so much.
You might check the eurostar website as to prohibited items. We took it from Paris to London in 2006 and I am quite certain we purchased sandwiches for dinner at places near Gare du Nord, including a bottle of wine.
I was a bit of a wine fiend,. Found that whatever wines i bought in France i could have found a lot more conveniently (no fear of breakage) and generally cheaper in good wine stores in Los Angeles. However, I did bring back one or two bottles with the rench tax seal as souvenirs. but packed in checked luggage
