Purchase Paris Museum Pass in Louvre?

We plan to purchase the pass at the Louvre. Are the lines super long or should we get it from the airport or some other store? We are staying in the Latin Quarter on Rue Pascal.

since the point of the pass (at least partially) is to avoid lines at museums, I'd buy it ahead of time at another store. I bought ours at a tabac shop very easily. I think the location was in Rick's book.

I'd get it anywhere but the Louvre. We bought ours at the wonderful Musee de Cluny and there was no line at all.

Hello - My husband and I were in Paris in late May. We opted to buy our pass at the Louvre and it worked just fine. We had to stand in the security line (the one that everyone has to go through). Once we were inside, there was a separate office to go into to buy the pass - we almost stood in one of the regular lines but luckily asked at the information booth first. It took about 5 minutes - there was 1 couple in front of us. Really easy and fairly quick. We definitely appreciated not standing in line in many other places with our pass however - it was great when we went into the Musee D'Orsay. We still had to stand in a line, but it was MUCH shorter than the regular line. And the pass encouraged us to check out a few places we would have otherwise never gone into - the monument museum (can't remember the name) right next door to the maritime museum was very cool and completely unexpected. Enjoy Paris! I'm dreaming of going back.

Anyone who waits in a long line to get into the Louvre is doing it wrong. I go almost every summer, yes,, usually July or August, peak tourist crush. I learned from another forum about using other entrances and I have not spent more then 5-10 minutes in a line there in the past 7 or 8 years. Thank goodness. Enter from Rue Du Rivoli,, through the shopping mall entrance,, go downstairs( there is an escalator) and buy ticket from machine. Walk in. Easy. People find it hard to beleive its that simple,, but it is.

It can be easy and very quick to buy the pass at a smaller and less busy museum. Since we were staying in the St. Germain area we stopped by the nearby Delacroix Museum to buy our pass on the way to the Louvre. There was no one there and it took us about 5 minutes. Then we had the pass in hand and breezed right into the Louvre. If your goal is to get to the Louvre right when it opens at 9 a.m. you should buy your pass the day before, since the smaller museums in my recollection don't open until somewhat later, maybe 9:30.
