Public transportation from Amsterdam's airport to the Rijksmuseum

Take the train from the airport to Centraal, and catch the tram from in front, however, you have to buy your ticket at the tourist office first. Line number 4.

Take the train from Schipohl Airport to Centraal Station. From Centraal take tram 2 or 5 to the Hobbemastraat stop: http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/info/route?lang=en Line 4 doesn't go anywhere near the Rijksmuseum.

We arrived in Amsterdam today and took the train to Centraal and a tram to Hotel Van Onna. We were able to buy tram tickets when we boarded. As a bonus, our debit cards worked in the ticket kiosks at the airport so we avoided the long ticket lines.

2 and 5 are both fine. We took them all the time, since our hostel was really close to the museums.
