public trans. berlin help

I can't figure out how to get to my apartment from the Hbf. We are not traveling light! (Teen and several weeks in Europe) It looks to me that we have to go on two trains and two buses and still walk a half a mile? Can anyone help please? Can you tell me the closest bus or train stop to the address Emdener str. 47a 10559 Berlin Tiergarten Moabit? And, below, does this all mean four segments, or are they four separate options? Kris, Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any S-Bahn or U-Bahn stations near your apartment, so getting there with a lot of heavy luggage is probably going to be quite an effort. The easiest option (although not the cheapest) would probably be to take a Taxi from the Hbf. Hauling Steamer Trunks on and off Buses will be NO fun, especially if they're crowded. The closest stations are likely Beusselstrasse (S-Bahn), Birkenstrasse (U-Bahn) and Turmstrasse (U-Bahn). Each one will be somewhat of a "hike" from your aparment. The lack of nearby public transportation will also mean more of an effort each time you go out touring. Good luck!

Kris looking at the relatively short distance, it's a 'no brainer' take a taxi.

Hi, If your address is in Moabit, which I've only been to once, I would suggest this: Take the S-Bahn (any) going west to Bahnhof Zoo. At Bahnhof Zoo I think it's the Hardenbergstrasse exit. That's where the line of taxis are (eine Taxistelle). Take the taxi to apt. Of course, you can take a taxi direct from Hbf. (on Invalidenstrasse) to Moabit.

I can't make heads or tails of the stuff you quoted. Where did you get that from? The closest bus stop is Oldenburger Str. The U-Bahn station Turmstraße is a bit less than a kilometer away, which isn't that bad if you're reasonably mobile and not carrying a lot of luggage, i.e. for sightseeing. With a lot of luggage I would take a cab from the main station. Thats roughly 4.5 km, so depending on several factors (how many persons, luggage on the roof, congestion) that would mean a cab fare of ~10-15 Euro. The main station and station Zoo are roughly the same distance by car from Emdener Straße, so you won't win much by going there first with public transit.

I don't know where you got the info you posted, but I think those are individual connections. The German Rail (Bahn) website shows a number of connections that include a single bus plus a walk of about 10 min. Put in Station/Stop "Berlin Hbf" and Address "Emdener str. 47a Berlin".

With at least two people (not sure how many "we" is), a taxi from the station to your apartment is the obvious choice. When you arrive at the station, the taxis are well signed. Once you are not encumbered by luggage, you can walk to buses, U-Bahn stops, and S-Bahn stops.
