Last year we followed Rick's Pub Crawl in Venice and it was one of our most memorable and fun evenings. We will be in Paris in 2 weeks and wonder if anyone has done something similar in Paris?
We've never followed a Rick Steves pub crawl... but we always do our own crawl, and it's always fun! That being said, I will clarify that this is a PUB crawl. So we aren't going to a bunch of cafes for wine. We're going to pubs, for beer. We usually string together an evening of UK ex-pat and footie pubs - for the conversation with English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh folks, and of course for the football matches. We're both rabid Chelsea FC fans, so the UK ex-pat footie crowd is a perfect fit for us. We like McBride's (by les Halles, at 54 rue Saint Denis), O'Sullivan's (not too far from Printemps, at 1 Boulevard Montmartre), the Long Hop (25 Rue Frédéric Sauton)... well - we like a lot of pubs. La Pinte is cute and is a sort of French take on a pub (13 Carrefour de l'Odéon). If the guy behind the bar offers you some sausage on the house, EAT IT. Yummm... Our absolute favorite is the Highlander, at 8 rue de Nevers, right off the Pont Neuf. They serve a pint of Caledonian that is simply yummy, the staff are really nice and friendly, and location is utterly adorable.
At least include Horse's Tavern. It's in the 'V' where Conde and Odeon meet just south of Saint-Germain. It also has acceptable grub.
Thanks to you all! And thanks. Perrry, for the info! I'll check it out!
