My wife and our son & girlfriend are traveling by car to Provence the last 10 days of this year. We'll base ourselves in the Arles, Avignon, Aix area. Any suggestions re: moderately-priced lodging, tourist sites & museums, great restaurants within a hundred miles of these cities? What issues will we face if we spend Dec. 24-29th there? Are there hotels/B&Bs open over the Christmas Holiday? Thanks for any suggestions. Bob Holtan

Just so we know how much common ground we have for the answers, Bob, have you read the Rick Steves' Provence and French Riviera guidebook? Are you looking for places not in the book or do you want confirmation of some that have caught your eye? (Personally I would skip Aix-en-Provence; we were not impressed - much prefer Arles which is not far away)
