I have been reading about a traditional Christmas Eve meal in Provence. It includes 7 meatless courses, such as salted cod, vegetables, cheeses, etc. Then you go to mass and return to eat the Thirteen desserts. Now, my husband and I will be in Isle sur la Sorge on Chrsitmas Eve. I expect to be able to buy the 13 dessorts (don't worry, it is mainly dried fruit, plus some cookies). I have searched the internet for recipes for this meal, but only found a recipes for the salted cod. Anybody know more about this tradition and where I might find recipes?
My suggestion is to go to your local library or large bookstore and look for books on Provencal cooking.
You know, Frank II, if I can't find it online.... Also, I looked in an extensive collections of french cookbooks and was unsuccessful. I first read about this in Peter Mayle's Provence A-Z, and he gives a description, but no recipes.
Thanks, Michael. That was exactly what I was looking for! I must not have googled it right!!
