provence b&b

searching for accommodation as a base for 2 weeks--close to sights, but an area with plenty of eating places in walking distance

If you want "plenty of eating places in walking distance", you might have more luck searching for hotels rather than B&B's. We've stayed at a lot of B&B's in France and you're usually lucky if there's even one eating place in walking distance. At least that's been our experience.

Thank you--am exploring this hotel and it looks promising.

Alice, I posted this in response to another inquiry the other day but it applies to your question as well: We stayed in St. Remy and loved it. Check out Hotel Sous les Figuiers. Lovely and peaceful but close to town center and lots of restaurants. It feels more like a B & B. Has a pool and great breakfasts. Wednesday is market day in St. Remy--don't miss it!

I like Arles as a base but you will need a car to really see Provence well. We enjoyed family run Hotel Regence. Not a b&b but friendly , great loc to cafes, shopping etc and it has beautiful rooms and some views of river.
